Who Will Be the Next Category Manager of the Year?

Suppliers can help choose finalists for CSP’s 2017 award across nine key c-store categories

CHICAGO --CSP magazine has been busy tabulating and reviewing nomination votes for the second annual Category Manager of the Year award. As the leading provider of category insights in the convenience and retail-marketing industry, this one-of-a-kind award recognizes the best and brightest category managers in the convenience-store sector.

Starting Oct. 24, CSP is asking suppliers to cast their votes at CSPDailyNews.com/CategoryManagerAward to elect the c-store industry’s finest category managers.

In addition to being honored at a special ceremony during Convenience Retailing University, held Feb. 22-24, winners will be featured in a special section of CSP’s 2017 Category Management Handbook.

“Category managers are the driving force behind the growth of the convenience-store industry, said Jim Bursch, executive vice president of convenience for Winsight LLC. “These category ‘CEOs’ deserve the recognition for their roles. We’re proud to do just that with our Category Manager of the Year program, which is quickly becoming the most prestigious award honoring category managers in our channel.”

Nominations were received from supplier partners from June to September 2016. They were made based not only on bottom-line results, but also the extraordinary dedication displayed in staying on top of trends, introducing new flavors and lines and offering unique solutions to everyday category challenges. Each category will have between three and five finalists, and the awards are expanding this year to include a winner in the “Dispensed Beverages” category.

The honor of Category Manager of the Year will be bestowed on one person from each of nine product categories:

  • Alcohol Beverages
  • Candy
  • Dispensed Beverages
  • Foodservice
  • General Merchandise/HBC
  • OTP
  • Packaged Beverages
  • Snacks
  • Tobacco
