Aloha Petroleum Helps Heart Association

Presents check for more than $4,700 from canister donations

HONOLULU -- Aloha Petroleum Ltd. recently presented a check for more than $4,700 to the American Heart Association, Hawaii Division, to support the organization's mission to help Hawaii's residents lead healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

"Mahalo to all of our very generous customers who helped make this donation possible," said Richard Parry, president and CEO of Aloha Petroleum Ltd. "Cardiovascular disease and stroke are the leading causes of death in Hawaii, and the American Heart Association is working hard every day to change that. We commend AHA and are pleased to support their efforts to help prevent heart disease and stroke."

During January and February, Aloha Petroleum raised $4,704.78 for the American Heart Association by setting up donation canisters at its Aloha Island Mart convenience stores on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. Canisters were also set up at select Shell locations.

"The American Heart Association is thrilled to have the support from Aloha Petroleum and its many customers," said Lori Suan, executive director of the American Heart Association. "Not only have they provided this wonderful donation, many Aloha employees participate in our annual Heart Walk."

Honolulu-based Aloha Petroleum is an independently owned and locally operated petroleum marketer and convenience store operator with a long history in Hawaii that dates back to the early 1900s. Aloha employs approximately 480 Hawaii residents and now markets through more than 100 Shell- and Aloha-branded fueling stations in the state.
