Antonini Departs Cardtronics

Lummis will serve as interim CEO as board searches for successor
HOUSTON-- ATM operator Cardtronics Inc. has announced that Jack M. Antonini, the company's chief executive officer, left the company and its board of directors effective March 17, 2009. Fred R. Lummis, chairman, has agreed to serve as interim CEO while the board conducts a formal search for Antonini's permanent successor.

"Jack has made a significant contribution over the past six years as Cardtronics' CEO, taking the company from a small private company to the largest non-bank operator of ATMs in the world," Lummis said. "Jack and the board have mutually decided that it [image-nocss] would be in the best interests of the company to bring in a new CEO with a fresh perspective on how to capitalize on our many strengths and further develop our strategic direction."

He added, "The board wishes him well in his future endeavors and will immediately begin searching for a new CEO who can come in and continue building upon the successful growth that Cardtronics has achieved during Mr. Antonini's tenure."

Antonini joined the company in January 2003. Previously, he was with First Union/Wachovia, First USA, USAA Bank and Globeset Inc. He was also a board member of MasterCard International, the Consumer Bankers Association and Financial Institutions Advisory Board for the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank; he also served on the board of the Electronic Funds Transfer Association (EFTA).

In June 2007, Dallas-based 7-Eleven Inc. entered into a $135 million deal with Cardtronics for the firm to acquire the retailer's U.S. ATM operations. The agreement provided Cardtronics with a 10-year exclusive right to operate all ATMs and Vcom advanced-function financial self-service kiosks in U.S. 7-Eleven locations, including in any new 7-Eleven stores. The acquisition added more than 5,500 high-volume ATMs to the Cardtronics portfolio, expanding the size of Cardtronics' network to more than 30,000 machines.
