Atlas Oil Supports Troops 2 Truckers

Hires drivers from Marine program

TAYLOR, Mich. -- Atlas Oil has begun hiring drivers from a military-to-civilian vocational program for active-duty service members. The Troops 2 Truckers program provides transportation, logistics training and credentialing and was designed to improve employment opportunities for members following their military service.

Founded in 2006, Troop Transition operates these vocational training programs aboard military installations. When service members are reaching the end of their military duty, the program assists in preparing them for full-time positions in private industry. Atlas has hired two drivers through the Troops 2 Truckers program thus far and has found the program to be an excellent source of qualified applicants for its driver positions. "Troops 2 Truckers is a great program for everyone involved," said Doug Sartain, vice president of Atlas transportation. "We get well trained individuals who are not only CDL and hazmat certified, but they are also safety minded, disciplined and tested in tough conditions."

"At Atlas, we pride ourselves on hiring and retaining the best drivers in the business," said Sam Simon, CEO of Atlas Oil. "As a company, we also have great respect for our military and are happy to help them in their transition into civilian life."

Atlas is currently hiring drivers in the Detroit and Hammond, Ind., markets. Its drivers complete 240 hours of training and are assigned a mentor called a SEAL driver for the term of their career at Atlas.

Atlas offers competitive pay and benefits such as health, vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, daycare, disability insurance and a 401 (k) plan.
