Adds 1,000 merchant-owned cash machines to its nationwide U.S. network

The companies signed and closed the deal on Oct. 1; they did not disclose the terms of the deal.

Part of the company's continued growth plan for its merchant-owned ATM business, the CGI Direct ATM acquisition grows Cardtronics' U.S. merchant-owned ATM portfolio to more than 22,600 cash machines.

The CGI Direct ATM transaction follows similar acquisitions earlier this year involving 3,300 and 4,800 mostly merchant-owned ATM relationships from Aptus Financial and Merrimak ATM Group, respectively. Including its company-owned and managed services portfolios, Cardtronics supports a total fleet of 64,300 conveniently located retail ATMs in the United States.

All CGI Direct ATM cash machines will be converted to the Cardtronics brand.

Making ATM cash access convenient where people shop, work and live, Cardtronics is at the convergence of retailers, financial institutions, prepaid card programs and the customers they share. Cardtronics owns/operates more than 81,200 retail ATMs in U.S. and international locales. Major convenience store and gas station clients include 7-Eleven, Chevron, Cumberland Farms, Corner Store, ExxonMobil, Hess, Speedway and Sunoco. Other major retailers include Costco, CVS, Kroger, Target, Safeway, Walgreens and Winn-Dixie.
