Fastrac to Sell On-The-Go E-ZPass

Third off-Thruway retailer to offer toll tag

ROME, N.Y. -- Fastrac Markets LLC is the third off-Thruway retailer to distribute E-ZPass electronic toll collection system tags through the E-ZPass On-the-Go program, said the New York State Thruway Authority.

Through the On-the-Go program, Thruway customers can purchase an E-ZPass tag at off-Thruway retail locations, such as Fastrac stores, and begin using it instantly and benefit from its convenience and time savings, said Thruway Authority Executive Director Michael R. Fleischer. In addition to the discount E-ZPass offers over cash, and the continued [image-nocss] operational improvements being implemented Thruway-wide, further expanding the availability of On-the-Go makes getting E-ZPass more attractive than ever.

Under this new initiative, Fastrac Markets will be selling E-ZPass On-the-Go tags to consumers, with the consumer receiving the full $25 credit of the purchase price of the tag on their account.

Upon purchasing an On-the-Go tag, customers will receive a prepaid E-ZPass tag worth $25 that will be active upon purchase. E-ZPass provides a savings of 10% over cash on all Thruway tolls for passenger vehicles. On-the-Go tags are currently not available for commercial vehicles.

Other retailer benefits include a money-back guarantee on tags not sold, a 45-day payment plan, a listing as an authorized retailer on the E-ZPass New York website and online ordering.

The Authority is finalizing a number of other agreements to expand the availability of E-ZPass to customers. In addition, the Authority is seeking additional qualified retailers to distribute E-ZPass tags through this program, it said.

Today, E-ZPass is used by 20 transportation agencies in 10 Northeastern states. More than 2.2 million Thruway customers currently use E-ZPass and more than 6.6 million New York State E-ZPass tags are in use today. Since the Authority launched the E-ZPass On-the-Go program in May 2004, more than 26,400 On-the-Go tags have been sold for passenger vehicle use.

Rome, N.Y.-based Fastrac Markets currently operates 47 locations and supplies fuels to many other customers throughout New York.

Fastrac is the second convenience store retailer to offer E-ZPass, along with NOCO Express, Tonawanda, N.Y.
