Frontera Investment Expands

Hispanic financial services provider opens branch in Mecca, Calif., ampm c-store

SAN DIEGO -- Frontera Investment Inc. has announced that it has entered into a lease agreement with Mecca Travel Center for a new in-store branch in a new Super ampm/ARCO convenience store located in Mecca, Calif., about 10 miles east of Frontera's Coachella branch.

Subject to permitting, the branch should open within 90 days, the firm said. San Diego-based Frontera uses technology to offer competitive prices on a variety of financial products and services, including check cashing, loans (payday and gold jewelry loans), money transfers and tax preparation to the unbanked and underbanked [image-nocss] financial services customer.

Frontera's mission is to be the first full-service, low-cost, Hispanic financial services brand servicing the alternative financial services market, it said.

Frontera is analyzing other ampm locations and plans to transfer or relocate the technology and equipment it has in its two remaining manned kiosks to ampm sites. Also, Frontera has received all permits needed to assume operations of its newly acquired Oxnard, Calif., location and will begin running the business on September 1. It is awaiting permits for its Dinuba, Calif., location, but has confirmed that all Frontera services are permitted on the site. That branch will open within 60 days.

Upon opening the new stores in Dinuba and Mecca, Frontera will have nine stores in operation, including two manned kiosks.
