CITGO 2010 Fueling Good adds twist to campaign that recognizes, rewards charities
HOUSTON -- CITGO Petroleum Corp. is launching its 2010 Fueling Good campaign on June 1 to recognize and reward charities and individuals making a difference in the lives of others. Charities, community groups, and individuals can join Fueling Good and submit their entries atwww.FuelingGood.com for an opportunity to win up to $2,500 in CITGO Gift Cards, either for doing good in their local communities, or for recognizing local charities that are helping others.

"Fueling Good is more than just a promotion," said Gustavo [image-nocss] Velasquez, vice president supply and marketing with CITGO Petroleum. "It has become a core philosophy that extends throughout the corporation and into our network of local Marketers and Retailers. It encourages everyone to make a positive impact in their local communities. We have seen time and time again how one person can make a huge difference in the lives of others. This is particularly evident when you consider the good works being done by CITGO Marketers and Retailers in their own neighborhoods. With the evolution of Fueling Good, we also provide a way for consumers to drive their own Fueling Good initiatives."

CITGO developed and launched Fueling Good last year and, by the end of the promotion, rewarded seven charities with a year's supply of gasoline. Winning charities included Bess the Book Bus in Orlando, Fla., a non-profit organization providing free books to kids; The Night Ministry in Chicago, providing medical screening and support to the homeless; and the Children's Volunteer Health Network, a team of volunteer dental professionals in northern Florida that provide free dental checkups to needy children.

The 2010 Fueling Good campaign adds a "Get & Give" component which offers consumers a chance to win CITGO Gift Cards as they vote for charities that best illustrate "doing good."

Charities and community organizations are encouraged to join Fueling Good and submit their story for a chance to win CITGO Gift Cards. While on the website, these organizations will have access to tools that will help them support and market their programs and engage with a broader audience. Charities can submit their stories through July 15.

From July 16 through August 30, consumers will be invited to vote once per day for the charity they think is doing the most good. With each vote, consumers will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes to win a share of $5,000 in CITGO Gift Cards. There will also be daily instant-win prizes available at on the website.

"We received tremendous positive feedback from last year's Fueling Good campaign, both from people who voted and nominated charities and from the charities that won. Because we felt it was important to enhance this year's program," said Velasquez. "We added the 'Get & Give' twist. Not only do individuals have the power to choose which of the participating charities from Fueling Good can win, but they are also entered for their own chance to win every time they vote. We hope that this will give participating charities and organizations even more exposure so that they can expand their reach and make a greater impact on the lives of the people they serve."
