TOLEDO, Ohio – Multi-format food, fuel and pharmacy retailer Giant Eagle Inc. announced that from May 3 through May 29 it will offer a 20-cents-per-gallon discount at GetGo fuel and convenience store locations for every $50 spent with the Giant Eagle Advantage Card inside its two Toledo, Ohio, area Giant Eagle supermarkets and two area GetGo locations.
Giant Eagle spokesperson Rob Borella said the temporary 20-cent discount during May is available in only three markets: Toledo, Ohio; Erie, Pa.; and the Johnstown-Indiana-Altoona market in southwest Pennsylvania.
The tri-city area in southwest Pennsylvania is getting the higher discount to promote a new store format--15,000-square-foot Giant Eagle Express stores--while Erie is getting the discount to promote the addition of GetGo fuel and convenience stores there, he told The Toledo Blade. Borella said the Toledo market is getting the discount on the heels of Giant Eagle recently implementing lower prices storewide, but it also is a reward for continued customer loyalty in the area.
The new promotion accelerates Giant Eagle customers' ability to earn up to a free tank of gasoline by doubling the traditional 10-cents-per-gallon discount earned for every $50 spent in store, just in time for Memorial Day and the summer travel season.
There are numerous ways for customers to earn fuelperks! rewards. In addition to earning rewards on everyday perishable and grocery items, they can also earn fuelperks! with purchases on retailer gift cards, no-contract phones and prepaid wireless cards, nonstate and nonfederally funded pharmacy prescriptions, Dress for Success dry cleaning services and more.

With fuelperks!, customers meeting purchase requirements earn a discount on each gallon of gasoline at GetGo with every $50 spent with the Giant Eagle Advantage Card inside Giant Eagle supermarkets and GetGo locations. The Giant Eagle Advantage Card automatically tracks customers' fuelperks! savings, and a customer can redeem points by scanning a Giant Eagle Advantage Card at the GetGo pump. There are no limits on the amount of fuelperks! savings a customer can accumulate. Customers can accumulate savings up to the price of a free tank of gasoline (one vehicle only; maximum of 30 gallons) in one transaction, and any fuelperks! savings accumulated above the price per gallon remains on the customer's Giant Eagle Advantage Card for future use.
