Gilbarco Gets Nod from ExpressPay

Contactless Smart Card Reader receives American Express certification

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root said that its Contactless Smart Card Reader has been certified for use with ExpressPay from American Express. It is the first gasoline dispenser manufacturer to attain this certification, the company said.

Gilbarco's Contactless Smart Card Option enables gasoline pumps equipped with CRIND (Card Reader In Dispenser) to read ExpressPay, which is available as a fob that hangs on a keychain and can also be embedded in a traditional American Express card.

The system was tested at the certified [image-nocss] global test house for ExpressPay from American Express in Guildford, England. The Gilbarco product was tested for digital and application compliance with the ExpressPay specifications during the certification process.
