Hunt Brothers Pizza Joins Breast Cancer Awareness Cause

Sponsors Regan Smith’s pink-themed NASCAR vehicle

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Hunt Brothers Pizza and JR Motorsports will join the National Breast Cancer Foundation's initiative to drive awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by giving Regan Smith's No. 7 Chevrolet a pink paint scheme for the Oct. 4 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kansas Speedway.

The special scheme will feature pink accents for the Kansas Lottery 300 to promote and encourage breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. The National Breast Cancer Foundation estimates that each year more than 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Hunt Brothers Pizza is honored to be able to bring awareness to breast cancer with this paint scheme. On behalf of all our customers, team members and partners, we wanted to share our concern about this deadly disease that touches so many people," said Keith Solsvig, vice president of marketing.

As the nation's largest brand of made-to-order pizza in the convenience-store industry, Hunt Brothers Pizza has been an official partner of JR Motorsports since the beginning of 2014. To date this season, Kevin Harvick has driven the No. 5 Hunt Brothers Pizza Chevrolet in three races. The Kansas Speedway event marks the first time the brand will be featured on JRM's No. 7 entry with Smith.

"I think this pink version of the Hunt Brothers Pizza car looks great," Smith said. "More importantly, it's an important cause for myself, the folks at Hunt Brothers and everyone involved. Early detection [of cancer] is critical, and if we can make others aware of that by racing a pink car, then we've done a small part."

Smith is currently second in the Nationwide Series point standings with seven races to go until the season's conclusion. He has four career wins with JR Motorsports and two in 2013. His season totals to date include his win at Daytona, seven top-5 finishes and 22 top-10s.

The 200-lap event at Kansas Speedway will air live on ESPN2 on Saturday, Oct. 4, beginning at 3:30 p.m. EST.
