ICA Announces WaterSavers Advisory Council

Car wash group spearheads industry-wide environmental awareness initiative
CHICAGO -- The International Carwash Association (ICA) has formed the WaterSavers Advisory Group, an industry-wide advisory council of leaders representing state and regional associations, suppliers, operators and others charged with supporting the growth and efficacy of the professional car wash industry's environmental awareness and performance initiatives.

The formation of this group was announced by ICA president Lisa Lyons this week. "Our industry has made great strides in the environmental arena in the last several years," said Lyons. "There will be no more important [image-nocss] issue than our responsible use of precious natural resources."

The WaterSavers program, launched at Car Care World Expo 2009, is a recognition program helping professional car washes market their environmentally friendly business practices to consumers and communities. The program is open to all members of the ICA at an annual cost of $49 per location or a $250 flat fee for six or more locations.

Currently, the WaterSavers program includes more than 400 retail car wash locations across the country.

To become a participant of the program, applicants must verify that each car wash location reclaims or recycles water and discharges effluent to a sanitary sewer or leech field.

Upon approval, members receive usage rights of the WaterSavers logo and exclusive access to marketing materials including posters, counter signs, indoor signs, outdoor signs, curb signs and banners, all available in multiple versions and sizes.
