InComm Hosted Gift Card, Retail Fraud Summits

Industry execs come together, brainstorm

ATLANTA -- InComm, a provider of gift cards and other prepaid products, hosted retail and gift card industry leaders from around the globe at two premier events last week, the Gift Card and Retail Fraud Summits, part of InComm's 2007 Leadership Series.

The series featured collaboration and one-on-one meetings between the world's leading gift card providers and retailers, the company said.

The keynote speaker for the summits was Frank Abagnale, whose life story was the subject of the movie Catch Me If You Can.

The event also included a private concert with the Blues Brothers, Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi, at the Tabernacle Theater.

InComm is honored to provide our partners with this unique opportunity to discuss business opportunities and best practices for promoting their gift card offerings and protecting their customers against retail fraud, said Brooks Smith, InComm president and CEO. Because we are partnered with almost all of the nation's leading gift card providers, as well as many of the world's largest retailers, we are in a unique position to allow our partners to come together, drop their competitive badges, relax and brainstorm. The inspiring environment cultivated innovative ideas and fostered collaboration that otherwise would have never happened.

Held in conjunction with the Gift Card Summit, InComm's Retail Fraud Summit brought together many of the retail and financial industry's leaders to discuss best practices for the prevention of retail fraud. Fraud prevention protects not only retailers, but more importantly, consumers.

Other highlights included presentations from gift card experts Dan Horne, PhD, and Tony Craddock, CEO of the Gift Network. Attendees were also presented with complementary copies of Horne and Craddock's book, Gift Card Program Insights, produced by InComm exclusively for its partners and summit attendees.

Frank Abagnale, in addition to his keynote address, treated attendees to a two-hour presentation about fraud and theft in the United States.

U.S. Attorney Max Wood gave a presentation about different strategies for prosecuting retail fraud.

And experts on prepaid wireless, financial services, retail fraud prevention, gift card enhancements and more also gave presentations.

Both summits were produced by InComm exclusively for InComm partners.

Atlanta-based InComm is the marketer, distributor and technology innovator of stored-value gift and prepaid products using its point-of-sale (POS) transaction technology and payment solutions. It is the nation's largest provider of gift cards, prepaid wireless products, financial debit cards, digital music downloads, content, games, software and bill payment solutions, it said. InComm partners with consumer brand leaders to provide products and services to more than 145,000 retail locations.
