Kangaroo Express Testing Fuel-Island Beverage Vending

Pantry installing Vendgogh vending system in Raleigh-Durham, N.C.

CARY, N.C. -- The Pantry Inc. is working with Vendgogh LLC to pilot beverage vending at fuel islands in several of its Kangaroo Express convenience stores in Raleigh and Durham, N.C.

"This is another option we are testing to serve our on-the-go guests," said John Fisher, senior vice president of marketing, merchandising and restaurant operations at The Pantry and Kangaroo Express. "This option provides guests with a convenient alternative to purchasing beverages inside the store."

Vendgogh's vending systems are integrated with the Kangaroo Express point-of-sale (POS) system giving customers the opportunity to purchase fuel and cold drinks with a single swipe of their credit or debit cards without leaving the fuel island. Customers are prompted to add a beverage to their order during the fuel purchase process. The system dispenses the beverages at the fuel island.

"We are looking forward to working with Kangaroo Express to connect with their fuel island customers," said Larry McAnallen, Vendgogh vice president business development.

Vendgogh, based in Cary, N.C., delivers a patented, UL-approved fuel-island vending solution for c-stores. It is designed to help increase revenue and profits and improve customer loyalty and enhance the shopper experience for gasoline customers who don't go into the store.

Also based in Cary, The Pantry is a leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States and one of the largest independently operated convenience store chains in the country. As of May 7, 2012, the company operated 1,607 stores in 13 states under select banners, including Kangaroo Express, its primary operating banner.
