Kroger Inks Fleet One Deal

Accepting fuel cards at all of its grocery, c-store banners
CINCINNATI -- Fleet One LLC, a provider of fuel cards and fleet-related payment solutions to businesses and government agencies with vehicles, has signed an agreement with Kroger that allows the Fleet One Local fuel card to be accepted at all 720 of the Kroger-owned grocery stores with fuel islands. The Fleet One card will also be accepted at Kroger-owned convenience stores.

Kroger's acceptance of the Fleet One fuel card further increases Fleet One's presence and services nationwide. "This agreement allows us to partner with one of the nation's largest and most respected retail [image-nocss] grocery chains. Our commercial customers have been anxious to take advantage of the benefits that Kroger already provides to their consumer customers," said Robert "Bert" Nix, Fleet One vice president of merchant acceptance.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Fleet One provides fuel cards and fleet-related payment solutions to businesses and government agencies with vehicles. It offers fuel and maintenance purchasing controls, detailed reporting, online account management and a variety of additional services to its nationwide customer base. Fleet One also provides private-label fuel card programs to fuel and maintenance merchants. Fleet One is an affiliate of SunTrust Banks Inc.

Kroger, one of the nation's largest retail grocery chains, has 2,486 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two-dozen local banners including Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, Fry's, King Soopers, Smith's, Dillons, QFC and City Market. It also operates 782 convenience stores and 720 supermarket fuel centers.

The Cincinnati-based company's c-stores are in 16 states: Loaf 'N Jug in Colorado, New Mexico, Nebraska, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming; Turkey Hill Minit Markets in Pennsylvania; Tom Thumb Food Stores in Florida and Alabama; Kwik Shop in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska; and Quik Stop Markets in California and Nevada.
