Kum & Go Donation Funds Stock Market Video Wall at U. of Iowa
$300,000 gift from Krause Gentle Foundation will provide real-time financial information
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Henry B. Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa recently unveiled a new stock market video wall, funded by a $300,000 donation from Kum & Go and the Krause Gentle Foundation. The wall, located inside the Tippie College of Business, will provide real-time financial information for students, faculty and visitors.
"Kum & Go is committed to giving back to the communities we serve," said Kyle J. Krause, Kum & Go president and CEO. "With this donation, we're making an investment in educational excellence, which helps enhance the future of business in Iowa."
Krause joined Tippie College students, faculty and staff to be among the first to see the new wall during the unveiling event Friday, April 19, in Iowa City, Iowa.
"In today's business world, access to real-time information is critical," said Sarah Fisher Gardial, dean of the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. "Through this generous donation from Kum & Go and the Krause Gentle Foundation, we'll provide our students and faculty with up-to-the-second data that's easily accessible to all."
Tippie View, an interactive wall of video displays used by business students and Pappajohn Business Building visitors , took center stage in a dedication ceremony on April 19.
Attending the dedication were W.A. Krause (BA '57), his son and daughter-in-law Kyle (BBA '85) and Sharon (MBA '94), and his grandson Elliott, a current student at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. Members of the college's Tippie Advisory Board were in attendance and could test the technology firsthand.
Tippie View consists of five touchscreen displays and a stock ticker reporting the Dow 30 and stocks of local interest. The 70-inch center screen reports live market data and equities while other screens offer visitors a building wayfinder, building class schedules, Cambus information and more.
Gardial thanked the Krause Gentle Foundation and the Krause family for their financial gift that made Tippie View possible. "About one million people visit the building each year, and we're proud to have Tippie View at the building’s entrance," she said. "What Tippie View features is business. Anyone who enters our doors can see this is a business college."
