Retailer asks customers, "What does your ideal store look like?

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC is offering its customers a chance to win $500 worth of Kum & Go gift cards by answering the question, "What does your ideal store look like?" The regional chain is surveying consumers via email about store cleanliness, service and more.

"To ensure each customer has a great experience in our stores, we need to hear from you! Help us understand the expectations you have when visiting a convenience store and we'll return the favor," the company said in the email, which it is encouraging recipients to pass along to friends and family, [image-nocss] to be completed by July 15, 2011. A random drawing will be held on or around July 22, 2011.

The survey establishes how often and when the customer visits convenience stores, and how often that store is a Kum & Go location. It also establishes education, household income and other demographic information.The survey ranks the importance of cleanliness of the following: Food and fountain areas. Counters. Utensils. Equipment. Garbage receptacles. Shelves and merchandise. Floors. Cooler doors. Bathrooms (sinks, toilets, floor, stocking of soap dispensers and towels). Store windows and entrance. Gasoline dispensers (handles, stocking of windshield cleaner). Outside displays. Outside trash cans. Parking lot. The survey also ranks the importance of the following aspects of fueling: Pump speed. Card reader functioning. Waiting for an open pump. Amount of instructions at the pump. And the survey ranks the importance of the following aspects of customer service: Associate listens and quickly solves problems. Associate does not eat/drink while helping customers. Associate tells customers about promotions and specials. Associate is personable and familiar with customers. Family-owned Kum & Go, based in West Des Moines, Iowa, has more than 430 convenience stores in 11 states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming).
