Love's Donates $1 Million to Children's Miracle Network

Stores raise $966,000, Love family donates additional $34,000
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores has announced that it is donating $1 million to Children's Miracle Network, a charity that raises funds for more than 170 children's hospitals. Each September, the chain encourages customers to purchase paper heart icons valued at $1, $5 or $25. Customers also participate in other local fundraising events hosted by Love's employees such as auctions, raffles, hot dog or bake sales and car washes. These fundraising activities raised $966,000 for the 86 Children's Miracle Network hospitals in Love's markets.

The Love [image-nocss] family generously donated the extra $34,000 to bring the 2010 total to $1 million.

"Children's Miracle Network moves forward with the important work of raising funds for children's hospitals because of dedicated supporters like Love's," Scott Burt, president and CEO of Children's Miracle Network. "For the past four years, Love's has continually increased its fundraising total, and we congratulate Love's for reaching its long-time goal of raising $1 million for children's hospitals."

"Love's is excited to make a $1 million contribution to Children's Miracle Network, the majority of which our store teams raised," Jenny Love Meyer, director of communications for Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores. "The energy that they exhibited during the campaign was palpable. I appreciate them and the customers who donated to Children's Miracle Network."

The funds raised from Love's four-week campaign will help create "miracles" by funding medical care, research and education that saves and improves the lives of 17 million children treated at Children's Miracle Network hospitals each year, and the funds stay in the community where they were raised.

Love's has been a partner of Children's Miracle Network since 1998, raising funds for children's hospitals through various fundraising campaigns. Love's and its customers have raised more than $4.5 million to help sick and injured children in the communities where it operates.

Founded in 1964 by Tom Love, Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores is headquartered in Oklahoma City and remains family owned and operated. With more than 260 locations in 39 states, Love's continues its growth to meet the needs of professional drivers and the motoring public.
