BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Convenience store retailer Mapco has launched the MY MAPCO app on iOS and Android, bringing customers a convenient and secure way to pay at the pump using their mobile devices. PayPal is the exclusive payment option in the MY MAPCO app and is currently available in 276 Mapco locations across the United States.

With the MY MAPCO app, customers in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee can pay for gas on their mobile phones without ever needing to open up their wallets. Consumers using the app will get five cents back on every gallon filled.

For consumers who are increasingly connected to their mobile phones, this makes the paying process much more quick and seamless. It also makes the transaction more secure by helping avoid fraudulent transactions, as it eliminates the need to publicly share credit-card information or carry large amounts of cash.

For businesses, offering consumers a seamless and secure way to pay encourages customer loyalty. Since the MY MAPCO app launched in beta in May, it has seen a consistent increase in the number of recurring customers using the app to pay for gas, the company said.

Pal Alto, Calif.-based PayPal is a digital payments service that processes more than nine million payments daily. The service gives people simpler ways to send money without sharing financial information, and with the flexibility to pay using their account balances, bank accounts or credit cards.

Mapco Express is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delek US Holdings Inc. Based in Brentwood, Tenn., Mapco operates convenience stores in seven states under the Mapco Express, Mapco Mart, East Coast, Discount Food Mart, Fast Food & Fuel, Delta Express and Favorite Markets brand names.
