Maverik, GSP Lend Hand to Special Olympics

POP marketing firm won rights to be in reality show via Outlook Leadership auction
NORTH SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- Maverik, Inc and GSP Marketing Technologies Inc. said that they co-sponsored the latest edition of the Kick Start reality TV show. GSP Marketing Technologies won the rights to be in the show as part of a CSP Information Group- and Maverik-sponsored auction that benefits the Special Olympics of Utah, all part of the upcoming Outlook Leadership conference in Salt Lake City, August 22 to August 24.

Maverik launched its award winning-adventure reality TV show in the spring of 2008. Each episode features a regular person that was chosen [image-nocss] to take part in an adventure of a lifetime. Past adventures have included sky diving, military special ops training, NASCAR hot laps with Kyle Busch, riding in the Red Bull stunt plane, scuba diving in Cancun Mexico and several other adrenaline-pumping experiences.

"The Special Olympics are very important to us," said Scott Shakespeare, director of marketing for Maverik. "Their organization holds a special place in our hearts and we are happy to be able to offer this TV spot as one more way to help raise funds for their worthy cause."

GSP Marketing Technologies and Maverik teamed up after the auction closed to decide how best to allocate the prize. "Each year, we work with our retailing partners to participate in those charities that are important to them locally," said Kevin Farley, vice president of marketing for GSP Marketing Technologies.

"The Special Olympic group is a wonderful organization, and we were only too happy to help," he added. "In addition, knowing how focused Maverik is on their consumer, we felt it was best to have a local Maverik consumer be the hero of the TV show."

With the auction money heading to the Special Olympics, GSP and Maverik selected a worthy candidate to participate in the Wild West reality TV spot. "Our customers are very loyal and the show has been gaining in popularity over the past years," said Shakespeare. "We were happy to have GSP not only donate the money for the Special Olympics, but the spot on the show for one of our customers."

Clearwater, Fla.-based GSP Marketing Technologies is a leader in strategic marketing at the point of purchase.

North Salt Lake City, Utah-based Maverik operates more than 210 convenience stores that sell gasoline and other fuels, fresh food from its bakeries, beverages and other merchandise in the intermountain region, including the states of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona, Nevada and Montana and Colorado.
