Minit Mart Raises Funds for St. Jude Hospital

Campaign helped pediatric cancer research

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- During October, Fred's Minit Mart LLC, raised $42,700 for the annual St. Jude Halloween fundraiser, the company recently announced. In all, the program raised nearly $4 million dollars, it said.

Customers were encouraged to purchase a $1 or $5 Pumpkin Pinup in Minit Mart stores throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. The money raised by the promotion goes to the St. Jude pediatric cancer research center in Memphis, Tenn.

"Fred's Minit Mart continues to do a great job with the Halloween program," said St. Jude representative Adam Fields. "Each year, [image-nocss] they go above and beyond our expectations and help support the life-saving work done at St. Jude. They are such an enthusiastic group and a model for all other businesses who participate in this fun-filled, month-long event."

Since being introduced in 1992, the Pumpkin promotion has raised more than $25 million for pediatric cancer treatment and research.

"We're thankful that we have friends and customers who are willing to give to great causes like this one," said Fred Higgins, president of Fred's Minit Mart. "It's easy for us to sell Pumpkins, but it's our community that has done the work and we couldn't be happier to be a part of it."

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a leader in pediatric cancer treatment and research. Discoveries made at St. Jude have greatly altered how doctors from all over the world treat children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
