Parker’s Donates $2,000 to Local Schools

Part of Fueling the Community program

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Convenience store chain Parker’s presented a check for $2,000 to Bryan County Public Schools as part of the company’s Fueling the Community program. This donation is part of a larger $20,000 charitable contribution to area schools in Georgia and South Carolina.

“At Parker’s, we’re committed to giving back to each of the communities where we have retail stores,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of Parker’s. “This donation reflects our appreciation for the hard-working teachers and administrators in Bryan County.”

Parker’s donates 1 cent of every gallon of gasoline purchased at all of its convenience stores on the first Wednesday of the month to community schools through the Fueling the Community program. The company’s charitable initiative officially launched in the fall of 2011 and has donated money to public and private schools in every community where Parker’s does business.

“I believe education serves as a key factor in future success,” said Parker. “Education helps reduce poverty, decrease crime and increase opportunity. This donation is an important way to make an investment in the future.”

The company’s PumpPal club, which provides discounts of up to 10 cents on every gallon of gas purchased, has saved customers $2 million since the program first launched in February 2011, according to the company. Today, the PumpPal program has more than 57,000 members throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

Parker’s currently operates 28 convenience stores across the region and plans to open additional locations in Chatham, Liberty, Effingham, Bulloch, Jasper and Beaufort counties within the next year. A new convenience store on Highway 21 in Rincon will open in December 2012.
