Parker’s Fuels Beaufort, Ga., Schools with $4,000 Donation

Part of larger contribution "Fueling the Community"

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Convenience store chain Parker’s presented a check for $4,000 to the Beaufort County School District on Nov. 20 as part of the company’s Fueling the Community program. This donation is part of a larger $20,000 charitable contribution to area schools in Georgia and South Carolina.

“By any measure, education serves as a critical factor in determining future success,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of Parker’s. “This donation is an important way for Parker’s to make a meaningful investment in the future of Beaufort County.”

Parker’s donates 1 cent of every gallon of gas purchased at all of its convenience stores on the first Wednesday of the month to community schools through the Fueling the Community program. The company’s charitable initiative officially launched in the fall of 2011 and has donated money to public and private schools in every community where Parker’s does business.

“At Parker’s, we’re committed to giving back to each of the communities where we do business,” said Parker. “We applaud the hard-working teachers and administrators in Beaufort County.”

Parker’s operates 28 convenience stores across the region and plans to open additional locations in Chatham, Liberty, Effingham, Bulloch, Jasper and Beaufort counties within the next year. A new convenience store in Rincon, Ga., will open in December 2012.
