Pilot Flying J to Open Urgent Care Travel Sites

Deal calls for as many as 100 facilities by the end of 2016

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Pilot Flying J has reached an agreement with Urgent Care Travel (UCT) to open as many as 100 urgent care sites at select Pilot Flying J locations. The first sites will open in Knoxville, Tenn., and Oklahoma City in April 2013.

The companies expects to open as many as 12 locations in 2013 with steady openings to follow, leading to the complete rollout of the first 100 sites by the end of 2016.

UCT is jointly owned by Urgent Care America and J & S Capital. Urgent Care America is a leading urgent care management services provider with a wide variety of supporting services.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with such a great organization as Pilot Flying J and to bring needed quality healthcare services to professional drivers and travelers on the nation's interstate highways. Our planned rollout of 100 locations will provide for the most comprehensive coverage of the nations interstates with medical care access of any provider in the United States," said Urgent Care Travel CEO Tony Barber.

In mid-February, Urgent Care Travel and Rolling Strong have joined forces to create a comprehensive professional driver medical, health and wellness service.

Rolling Strong provides transportation companies and their drivers as well as owner-operators with in-terminal and on-the-road wellness programs. Personalized wellness programs include Rolling Strong driver health and wellness checks at client terminals, access to a national network of retail clinics for bio screening and discounted acute care, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, driver fitness programs, wellness kits, access to gyms located at Pilot Flying J Travel Centers and telephonic health coaching.

Under the arrangement, Urgent Care Travel locations will be accessible to Rolling Strong client drivers and fleets for medical check-ups and wellness guidance.

Bob Perry, founder of Rolling Strong, will function as the chief development officer for UCT. "I'm pleased to be part of this great initiative and taking further steps to bring quality health and medical care to professional drivers where they work and live; on the road," he said.

"Pilot Flying J is committed to making life better for America's drivers," said Jimmy Haslam, CEO of Pilot Flying J. "We understand the challenge professional drivers face in maintaining a healthy lifestyle while on the road, and we champion better health and wellness for both our employees and professional drivers through a variety of programs. This partnership with Urgent Care Travel allows us to provide onsite urgent care as an additional service aimed at making life better for drivers. Providing drivers with healthy options and access to medical care isn't just good business, it's the right thing to do."

Based in Knoxville, Tenn., Pilot Flying J has more than 650 retail locations and is the largest operator of travel centers and travel plazas in North America. The Pilot Flying J network provides customers with access to more than 60,000 parking spaces for trucks, more than 4,400 showers and more than 4,000 diesel lanes.
