PumpPal Tops 50,000 Members

Discount program has saved customers $1.7 million since inception, retailer says

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Parker's, a nationally-recognized leader in fuel and retail services, has announced that enrollment in the company's PumpPal program has officially exceeded 50,000 members. PumpPal members save up to 10 cents on every gallon of gasoline purchased at any of the company's 27 retail locations.

The PumpPal program was recently in danger of being suspended while a court case determined the legality of its advertising. Parker filed suit to block the state of Georgia's plan to end the way he advertises the program, and a judge in December determined that it could continue pending the outcome (see Related Content below for previous CSP Daily News coverage).

Since the PumpPal program at Parker's first launched in February of 2011, the company has saved consumers $1.7 million on more than two million gallons of gasoline, it said.

Enrollment in the program has "skyrocketed" over the past year, said the company, adding that it appeals to cost-conscious customers across southeast Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry.

"I'm so grateful for the support from our PumpPal members," said Parker's president and CEO Greg Parker. "Our PumpPal program enables Parker's customers to keep extra money in their wallet that would otherwise be paid out to credit card companies and big banks. I'd rather pass that savings on to our customers."

Parker's also offers a Fueling the Community program at all of the company's stores. On the first Wednesday of every month, Parker's sets aside one cent of every gallon of gasoline purchased to donate back to community schools. PumpPal members can select a specific school to receive the proceeds from Fueling the Community Wednesday.

"I'm committed to being the low price leader and to giving back to the communities where we do business," said Parker. "I'm truly grateful for the loyalty of our customers and for the ongoing success of our PumpPal program."

Savannah, Ga.-based Parker's currently operates 27 convenience stores in six counties throughout southeast Georgia and South Carolina, selling Parker's proprietary brand gasoline.
