Redbox Hits 200 Million Rentals

Also reaches 10,000-locations mark nationwide

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- Redbox, the automated DVD rental system featuring new release rentals for $1 per night, recently surpassed 200 million rentals and 10,000 locations nationwide. Launching with only 12 kiosks in 2002, redbox is now available in each of the contiguous United States. Featuring patented rent-and-return-anywhere technology and a national network of convenient retail locations, redbox has more than 25 million customers nationwide.

Redbox's 200th million rental featured the movie The Bank Job and was rented on August 25, 2008, in Herkimer, N.Y.

Redbox DVD rental [image-nocss] kiosks are available at select McDonald's restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, Walgreens drugstores and Wal-Mart stores in select markets. The company is currently focused on the installation of kiosks at Walgreens, Wal-Mart and other retailers to fulfill recent contracts.

Each fully automated redbox kiosk holds approximately 700 DVDs, representing up to 200 releases. Consumers use a touchscreen to select their favorite movies, swipe a valid credit or debit card and go. Customers can keep the DVD for as long as they would like for $1 per night plus tax, and return it to any one of redbox's more than 10,000 locations nationwide. After 25 nights, rental charges cease and the DVD is the customer's to keep. For added convenience, customers can also visit www.redbox.com to choose their DVD online and pick it up immediately at the redbox location of their choice.
