Toot'n Totum doubles educational reimbursement ceiling
AMARILLO, Texas -- Greg Mitchell, president of Toot'n Totum convenience stores, has announced that the company will double the funding for its employee tuition-reimbursement program, according to a report by The Amarillo Globe-News.

Toot'n Totum will reimburse employees enrolled at Amarillo College, West Texas A&M University, Wayland Baptist University and Frank Phillips College as much as $750 a semester, $1,500 a year, beginning this semester, the report said.

Employees must have a passing grade of "C" or better in all classes. Students must be employed [image-nocss] by Toot'n Totum prior to the start and through the end of the semester for which they seek to be reimbursed to be eligible for the program, said the report.

"We want to help offset the increasing costs of higher education for our employees as a way of encouraging them to further their education," Mitchell told the newspaper.

Amarillo, Texas-based Toot'n Totum currently has 62 c-stores, six lube centers and 12 car washes, 10 Mr. Payroll stores and two Westgate Car Washes in Amarillo.

Separately, Honolulu, Hawaii-based Aloha Petroleum Ltd. announced earlier this month that it will continue its sponsorship of Hawaii's youngest golf professional, Tadd Fujikawa, for a second year. "Last year, we proudly became Tadd's very first corporate sponsor, and we are pleased to continue our support into '09 for this fine young man who makes all Hawaii proud," said Richard Parry, CEO of Aloha Petroleum.

Aloha Petroleum presented a $5,000 check to the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA), continuing its support for junior golf in Hawaii for the second consecutive year, added a report by The Honolulu Advertiser.

And Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Travel Centers has presented the Salvation Army charity with a check for $47,500, said WVLT-TV. The money came from the sale of paper red kettles in all Pilot stores in Knoxville throughout the holiday season. The donation will go into a general fund to be used as needed.
