YORK, Pa. -- The annual holiday banquet was in their honor, but Rutter's employees brought more than 250 toys to the event and donated them to two local charities. At the banquet, Rutter's announced that it provided charitable gifts of more than $475,000 in 2008, pushing its community giving to a new milestone of more than $1.875 million over the past six years.

Almost all of the contributions benefit children's programs in the communities where Rutter's companies operate. Recent large-donation recipients include:

"That's why at Rutter's we feel it's all the more important for all of us to help out, so that these valuable organizations can continue to provide so many beneficial services."

Todd Rutter, president of Rutter's Dairy, added, "It has always been Rutter's philosophy to share our success with the communities that support our companies. We're proud to help these organizations that do so much good, especially to improve the lives of our most precious resource, our children."
