Rutter's Children's Charities Donates to Make-a-Wish

Presents local chapter with $34,000 check for 10 wishes

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores presented Ann Waltman from the Greater Pennsylvania & Southern West Virginia chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation with a check for $34,000 on June 3, 2011. The money will be used to grant 10 wishes to local children.

"We believe in the good work of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and we're glad to have the chance to make the lives of some sick kids a little happier for a while," said Rutter Farm Store's CEO Scott Hartman.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the [image-nocss] human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania & Southern West Virginia was founded in May 1983 in Pittsburgh. The chapter has granted more than 11,500 wishes, and it was the first chapter in the world to fulfill more than 700 wishes in one year, it said.

Based in York County, Rutter's Farm Stores makes contributions to charitable organizations across Central Pennsylvania annually, approaching 2 million dollars in the last 5 years.

York, Pa.-based Rutter's Farm Stores is a family-owned and managed enterprise that operates approximately 60 convenience stores throughout southcentral Pennsylvania.
