Rutter's Helps Food Pantry, Ambulance Service

Also donates $2,000 to honor Utz owners

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores has contributed $500 each to King's Kettle Food Pantry and Shippensburg Area Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Rutter's, which returned to Shippensburg in 2006, has made contributions to the two community organizations in the past.

King's Kettle Food Pantry serves low-income families in the Shippensburg School District.

The Rutter's companies also recently donated $2,000 to The Four Diamonds Fund, which provides support to families whose children are being treated for cancer [image-nocss] at Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pa.

The retailer made the donation in honor of Michael and Jane Rice, who were recently inducted into the Central Penn Business Journal Hall of Fame and are the owners of Utz Quality Foods Inc. Based in Hanover, Pa., Utz is among the largest regional snack food companies in the United States and a long-time supplier to Rutter's Farm Stores.

"We're proud to recognize Mike and Jane for all of their work on behalf of the battle against cancer," said Scott Hartman, president of Rutter's Farm Stores. "They set a wonderful example with their efforts."

Family-owned and third-generation managed, York, Pa.-based Rutter's operates 51 convenience stores in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, Lancaster and York counties in Pennsylvania. The Rutter's companies comprise Rutter's Farm Stores, Rutter's Dairy and M&G Realty, a real-estate holding company.
