Newspaper honors Pa. retailer

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Holdings Inc., the parent company of Rutter's Farm Stores and Rutter's Dairy, has been named a Central Penn Business Journal Business of the Year. Buchanan Ingersoll, Capital BlueCross, M&T Bank and McKonley & Asbury were program sponsors.

The awards honor area businesses for their outstanding contributions to central Pennsylvania's business community. Criteria for the awards include leadership, innovation and growth.

Rutter's bested five other finalists in the category of companies having 101 or [image-nocss] more employees. The second-annual awards were presented December 5.

We're honored to receive the Business of the Year award, said Scott Hartman, president of York, Pa.-based Rutter's Farm Stores. We're thankful to our customers, employees, vendors and to the communities where we operate, for their roles in the success of Rutter's Holdings. We're proud to play a central and growing role in serving the everyday needs of the residents of central Pennsylvania.

Todd Rutter, president of Rutter's Dairy, said, This award really means that we have great employees who go the extra mile every day to satisfy our loyal customers, without whom we could not be successful.

Rutter's Farm Stores, which debuted in 1967 as a retail outlet for Rutter's Dairy products, has 50 stores in York, Lancaster, Adams and Franklin counties. Family-owned and third generation-managed, Rutter's Holdings also includes M&G Realty, a real-estate holding company.

Rutter's Holdings is in its third year of double-digit growth in sales, the company said. It expects to make charitable contributions of $200,000 this year.
