Rutter's, SOAR to Fill Valentine's Day Goodie Boxes for Troops

Retailer helps Support Our American Recruits

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores and the nonprofit Support Our American Recruits (SOAR) are teaming up for the sixth year in a row to send Valentine's Day goodie boxes for area troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

The goodie boxes will be filled with items including salted snacks, candy, chewing gum, magazines and Valentine's Day cards. Rutter's vendors Utz Quality Foods, Martin's Potato Chips, Hershey's, Harrisburg News, ConAgra Foods, Chase-Goldenberg, S&D and AWI donated items for the boxes.

Rutter's and SOAR volunteers will gather Wednesday [image-nocss] night, January 19, at Emigsville Fire Hall in Emigsville, Pa.

Area residents who have a loved ones serving in Iraq, Afghanistan or Kuwait can submit their names and requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.

SOAR was founded in York County, Pa. Its mission is to support troops serving at home and overseas, to honor veterans and to provide a support group for family members of the troops.

Family-owned, York County-based Rutter's Farm Stores operates 56 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania.
