Sheetz Goes Platinum

Retailer debuts Visa card with "Made-To-Order Rewards"
ALTOONA, Pa.-- Sheetz Inc. is rolling out a Platinum-Edition Visa credit card, according to a promotional email online application push the convenience retailer sent out last Thursday. The card offers "Made-To-Order Rewards just for you, 8X the points," the Reward Offer From Sheetz said.

"We're looking to put the Platinum-Edition Visa card, with our partner FNBOthe First National Bank of Omahainto the market as an offering for our customers that offers benefits for shopping at Sheetz and also for shopping everywhere else, but has additional value for shopping at Sheetz," [image-nocss] Rich Steckroth, director of new business development for Sheetz, told CSP Daily News.

He added that the 90-day introductory period (the first three billing cycles) offers eight times the reward points for every $1 spent at Sheetz convenience stores and one point for every $1 spent elsewhere. After the introductory period, the card earns three points for every $1 spent at Sheetz stores and one point for every $1 spent elsewhere.

Customers can redeem the points that they earn though using the card for rewards such as cash back, retailer gift cards and a wide variety of merchandise, service and experiences available through Maximum Rewards, an online catalog provider that contracts with FNBO to run the rewards program.

A $25 gift card is 3,000 points, a $50 gift card is 5,000 points, merchandise starts at 5,815 points and $75 cash back requires 8,500 points.

The new card is not directly tied to any in-store or gasoline loyalty program, and Steckroth said there are no current plans to do so.

"We think it's a great offer, and a great opportunity for our customers," Steckroth said.

Although the timing of the launch had nothing to do with the current state of the economy, he said, "Any time there's a good deal for the customer is a great time; any time there is an economy which is a little bit stressed and we can offer a great deal is even a better time, so we think this is an excellent time for the customer to jump on board."

Steckroth said Sheetz will release additional details on the card and program today.

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz operates more than 350 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
