Shell Fuel Rewards Program Expands

Teams up with Kroger in Mich., Winn-Dixie, Excentus in La.
HOUSTON -- Shell and Kroger launched the next phase of its fuel reward program in the greater Detroit, Lansing, Flint and Saginaw on July 5. The program offers customers the option to redeem their fuel rewards points through a price rollback at the pump using the Shell Rewards proprietary software platform.

And Winn-Dixie will kick off its second wave of the Excentus Fuelperks! rewards program with Shell on July 7 in the greater New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas.

The latest launch with Kroger in Michigan reinforces Shell's primary strategy to build direct [image-nocss] relationships with premier grocer brands to develop exclusive alliances in key markets, while complementing its geographic rollout as needed with valued third-parties, such as Excentus, the company said. These redemption relationships further differentiate the Shell brand by providing key alliances with leading grocers. This leadership position gives Shell wholesalers and retailers the opportunity to be the exclusive brand with rights to redeem with a leading grocer in their marketplace.

Beginning on July 5, every time Kroger Co. customers in the greater Detroit, Lansing, Flint and Saginaw areas make a purchase with their Kroger Plus Card they not only save money on their grocery bill, but also earn Fuel Points to be used at the pump. The fuel rewards savings provides Kroger customers the opportunity to redeem up to 1,000 Fuel Points per visit to save up to $1 per gallon at Kroger Fuel Centers, or redeem 100 points per visit to save 10 cents per gallon instantly at participating Shell stations. This offer is valid up to 35 gallons per fuel purchase.

"Adding value and savings is an important part of Kroger's commitment to providing our customers the best possible shopping experience," said Dale Hollandsworth, spokesperson for Cincinnati-based Kroger. "In today's economic times, it's more important than ever for companies like Kroger and Shell to join forces to offer our customers optimum savings and rewards."

"We are excited to be teaming up with Kroger to help fill customers' gas tanks for less," said Dan Little, North America fuels marketing manager for Shell Oil Products U.S., Houston. "With approximately 133 Kroger stores throughout the Detroit, Lansing, Flint and Saginaw areas and more than 150 conveniently located participating Shell stations nearby, it's never been easier for customers to save on high-quality Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines."

Customers earn one Fuel Point for every dollar spent at participating Kroger stores when they use their Kroger Plus Card. To help shoppers build up their savings quickly, Fuel Points can also be earned by purchasing prescriptions or gift cards at Kroger. Customers earn 50 Fuel Points for each filled eligible prescription and two Fuel Points for every dollar spent on gift cards from Kroger's in-store Gift Card Malls. Visit any Kroger store for details. Fuel Points will be automatically added to Kroger Plus Card accounts and will be reflected on the customers' grocery receipt after every purchase. Customers also have the option of looking online on their "My Kroger" page atwww.kroger.com to check how many Fuel Points they have earned. Fuel Points must be used within a designated time period.

Customers may redeem their Fuel Points at Kroger Fuel Centers or participating Shell stations by using their participating Kroger Plus Card at the pump, manually entering their card number or by entering their alternate ID, which will initiate the fuel savings.

Meanwhile, Winn-Dixie Stores Inc., announced that beginning today, customers who shop at any of its 54 New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette-area stores using the new Customer Reward Card (CRC) will earn significant fuel savings at participating Shell stations through the fuelperks! Rewards program. This launch is part of the grocer's ongoing partnership with Excentus Corp., a retail marketing coalition specializing in fuel-based reward programs.

For every $50 in qualified purchases (up to 20 gallons per fuel purchase) that customers make using their new CRC at Winn-Dixie, they will receive a five cents per gallon fuel savings redeemable at any one of more than 125 participating Shell stations. Additionally, fuelperks! Rewards are stackablethe more shoppers spend, the more they earn. For example, if a customer spends $100, they will earn 10 cents per gallon, if they spend $150, they earn 15 cents per gallon, etc.

As part of the program, the Winn-Dixie Customer Reward Card (CRC) has been redesigned to include a magnetic strip on the back, similar to a debit or credit card. This new card is required to earn and redeem fuelperks! Rewards.

"We invite shoppers to go to their neighborhood Winn-Dixie to sign up for their new Customer Reward Card and begin earning fuelperks! Rewards today," said Joey Medina, Jacksonville, Fla.-based Winn-Dixie's New Orleans region vice president. "Customers in our Jacksonville, Fla., and Panama City, Fla., markets, where we are currently running this program, have already saved more than $4.6 million on gas with fuelperks! Rewards, and we are thrilled to bring the same opportunity to all of our loyal shoppers here in the Louisiana area."

"Winn-Dixie has been a great business partner for us," said Brandon Logsdon, executive vice president and general manager of Excentus, Irving, Texas. "We are excited to bring fuelperks! to their Louisiana area customers and we are confident that it will be a success."

"We are very pleased to launch the fuelperks! Rewards Program at all of the participating Shell stations in Louisiana," said Little.
