Speedway, MoneyGram Expand Relationship
Adds MoneyGram xpress service to 1,460 Midwest locations
ENON, Ohio -- Speedway LLC has expanded its relationship with MoneyGram, a leading global money transfer company, with the addition of MoneyGram xpress to the convenience store chain's 1,460 locations across the Midwest. Speedway will also continue to sell MoneyGram money orders under the new agreement.
The MoneyGram xpress service allows customers to purchase in-lane a prepaid money transfer package in a predetermined and defined dollar amount.
These packages can then be redeemed online at www.moneygram.com/xpress or by phone to complete the money transfer. Recipients of transfers originated via the MoneyGram xpress service can pick up their funds at any MoneyGram agent location that offers money transfer services.
"Customers want flexible, convenient and reliable ways to send money," said Rick Byrne, vice president of strategic accounts for MoneyGram. "Adding MoneyGram xpress to Speedway's existing MoneyGram services gives customers the option to quickly purchase money transfers and avoid waiting in line or filling out forms at the point of sale."
MoneyGram xpress packages are sold in $50, $100 and $200 increments with fixed transfer fees of $5.95, $10.95 and $11.95, respectively.
"Our customers place a high value on choice and fast service," said Grant Heminger, vice president of marketing for Speedway. "We continue to rely on MoneyGram to help us meet our customers' need for quick and convenient financial products. The MoneyGram xpress service will allow our two million customers per day to send money to family and friends without waiting in lines or filling out forms. The MoneyGram xpress program is also quick and easy for our associates to use."
Dallas-based MoneyGram enables consumers who are not fully served by traditional financial institutions to meet their financial needs. It offers money transfer services worldwide and bill payment services in the United States and Canada through a global network of more than 275,000 agent locations--including retailers, international post offices and financial institutions--in 194 countries and territories around the world.
Speedway, based in Enon, Ohio, owns and operates the nation's fourth largest convenience store chain, with approximately 1,460 locations in seven states in the Midwest. Speedway is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corp.
