INDIANAPOLIS -- Riley Hospital for Children has named the Riley Hospital Burn Unit in the Simon Family Tower in honor of Speedway SuperAmerica LLC (SSA). The company raised $777,524 for Riley Hospital in 2009, extending their fundraising total for Riley Hospital to $3.2 million since 2003. The Riley Hospital Burn Unit is Indiana's only pediatric burn center.
Cooper Backie, a former Riley Hospital Burn Unit patient, and his mother, Amber, presented artwork to SSA vice president of operations Glenn Plumby. SSA then presented Riley Hospital leadership a check in the amount [image-nocss] of $777,524 for their 2009 fundraising efforts through the generosity of their customers and vendor partners.
The company committed to raising $3.5 million for Riley by 2012. They expect to fulfill that commitment in 2010.

"We are grateful to Speedway SuperAmerica for all their efforts on behalf of Indiana's children. Indiana's children are extremely fortunate to have such dedicated friends," said Kevin O'Keefe, president and CEO, Riley Children's Foundation.
Speedway SuperAmerica, headquartered in Enon, Ohio, is one of the nation's largest company-owned and operated convenience store chains and the largest in the Midwest with approximately 1,600 stores located in nine states. Most of the stores are operated under the Speedway and SuperAmerica brand names. SSA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corp., Houston.
