Valero Volunteers donate food, school supplies

SAN ANTONIO -- Valero Energy Corp. continued its back-to-school community outreach tradition last week by hosting another "Stuff the Truck" event for the San Antonio Food Bank. Valero Volunteers loaded a San Antonio Food Bank truck with kid-friendly food items that will help stock schools with lunches for children in need.

Valero Volunteers have also teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio to supply backpacks filled with school supplies to 200 children from three different school districtsSan Antonio ISD, Judson ISD and Harlandale ISD.

More than 150 [image-nocss] of these children joined Valero Volunteers last Friday for breakfast and to receive a backpack from a Valero employee.

This marks the eighth time Valero Volunteers have collected food items for a "Valero Stuff the Truck" effort since Valero purchased and donated a refrigerated truck to the Food Bank in 2008, the company said.

San Antonio-based Valero operates 15 refineries with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 2.8 million barrels per day.
