Thorntons Takes the Dare

Retailer's team members volunteer time, labor to Dare to Care Food Bank
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons Inc. has announced that it has partnered with Dare to Care Food Bank to help prepare foods for distribution for the Kentuckiana area. Thorntons team members volunteered their time, sorting and packing more than 12,000 pounds of canned goods and other items at the Dare to Care Food Bank in Louisville on March 23.

Kentuckiana is made up of Louisville, Ky., and nearby areas of Indiana.

Dare to Care Food Bank's mission is to lead the community to feed the hungry and conquer the cycle of need. It is an independent, nonprofit Kentucky corporation [image-nocss] with 501(C)(3) tax-exempt status. Dare to Care procured and distributed 14 million pounds of food last year, including four million pounds of fresh produce. This food was delivered to 192,000 individuals in Kentuckiana through Dare to Care's partnerships with over 300 independent food pantries, emergency kitchens, and shelters. Dare to Care's special programs include Kids Cafes at 14 afterschool locations and Backpack Buddy weekend nutrition program at 34 local elementary schools.
