Tiger Fuel Roaring to Go

Not exiting retail; introducing loyalty program offering up to 21 cents off per gallon

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Partly in an effort to dispel rumors that it is getting out of the convenience store business, Tiger Fuel Co. has introduced a loyalty program. Called "Return & Earn," the program rewards members with five cents off per gallon for every $25 spent inside participating Market stores (The Markets at Bellair, Mill Creek, Locust Grove, Pantops and 5th Street).

"We are very excited about this new program," said Stuart Lowry of Tiger Fuel. "There seems to be some misinformation in the public that Tiger Fuel Co. is looking to exit the convenience store business. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, we're looking to grow our business, and by providing real, tangible rewards to our valued customers, we're hoping to provide even more of a reason to visit our Market locations."

He added, "For the past few months, we've been offering discounts for paying with cash (6 cents per gallon), as well as discounts on gasoline with the purchase of a car wash (10 cents per gallon). These discounts can be still be used, in fact, giving our customers the potential of saving 21 cents per gallon at the pump. We think that's good news in this economy."

Lowry stressed that Tiger Fuel's Market chain of stores is an integral part of their business plan for the foreseeable future. "We're not Exxon, we're Tiger Fuel Co., and as a locally owned and operated company, we believe it is important to do what we can to come up with innovative ways to reward our local customers. This community has been good to us and we want to do what we can to help at the pump in these tough times. By that very same token, we are very much committed to the growth of all parts of our business, including our Market locations. Our Return & Earn loyalty program is just another way to thank our loyal customers for their business."
