TravelCenters of America Upgrades Driver Lounges

Flat-screen TVs, La-Z-Boy seating offer truck drivers "at home" feeling
WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) has announced that the company has upgraded all driver lounges to feature a 55-inch (or larger) flat-screen LCD HDTVs at all TA and Petro locations.

In addition to the flat-screen TVs, Petro's large movie room locations will also offer surround sound system and a DVD/VCR combination unit. New La-Z-Boy theater seating and carpet are also being installed at several locations to give the driver's lounge a whole new look and feel.

"As full-service leaders, we want professional drivers to have a home away from home feeling [image-nocss] when they visit us," said Tom O'Brien, president and chief executive officer of Westlake, Ohio-based TA. "These new amenities in our driver lounges and movie rooms are another example of the care we have for these hard working professionals who choose us over other companies that only want them to fuel and move on. Our goal everyday is to make that driver feel welcome and respected."

Driver lounge upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of January 2011, said the company.

In addition, in an effort to align with the new driver health and wellness program StayFit, driver lounges and theaters are now nonsmoking, TA said. Smoking is still permitted (where legal) inside amusement game rooms.

TravelCenters of Americais a leading national chain of travel centers in 41 states and Canada under the TravelCenters of America and Petro brands. With convenient locations on interstate exits, TA offers its customers diesel and gasoline fueling services, full-service and quick-service restaurants, heavy-truck maintenance services, 24-hour convenience stores, electronic communication (WiFi) and other services, all within large, high-traffic facilities.
