Speedway SuperAmerica roll out Speedy Rewards Pay Card with NPCA
ENON, Ohio -- Speedway SuperAmerica LLC (SSA), one of the largest company-owned and operated convenience store chains in the United States, has announced a partnership with National Payment Card Association (NPCA), the nation's leading provider of merchant-branded PIN-based debit cards, in taking the chain's Speedy Rewards loyalty program to the next level through the introduction of the Speedy Rewards Pay Card.

Speedy Rewards members can now turn their loyalty card into a debit card by visitingwww.speedyrewards.com and linking their Speedy Rewards card to their checking account. With this new functionality, members opting into the program will have a secure PIN-based method of payment combined with all of the benefits of an industry-leading loyalty program.

"The Speedy Rewards Pay Card is a fast, easy and secure way to pay and earn points," said Tony Kenney, president of SSA. "It's two cards in one."

Turning a Speedy Rewards loyalty card into a Pay Card comes with an introductory offer of five-cents off per gallon of fuel for the first 90 days where allowed by law.

Having no bank fees or card brand fees, the Speedy Rewards Pay Card also helps SSA fight rising credit-card and debit-card swipe fees.

"By adding payment functionality to the loyalty cards of over 3.4 million active Speedy Rewards members, SSA will bring the market competition that has been advocated in current legislative efforts concerning credit- and debit-card swipe fees," said Joe Randazza, CEO of NPCA. Speedy Rewards membership is free. Consumers can obtain a Speedy Rewards loyalty card at any Speedway or SuperAmerica location.

Coconut Creek, Fla.-based NPCA is a marketer of automated clearing house (ACH) decoupled card-based payment systems. The company's primary product is retailer-branded debit cards. NPCA has filed a series of patent applications for methods of payment processing and it is the only nonbank company (not associated with credit/debit-card bank associations or financial processors) whose decoupled debit platform has been designed exclusively for the gas station/convenience store industry. NPCA is a member of the EFT Network, which is a part of the Electronic Check Council of the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA), the rule-making body for all electronic funds transfers made through ACH.

SSA, headquartered in Enon, Ohio, is one of the nation's largest company-owned and -operated c-store chains and the largest in the Midwest with approximately 1,600 stores located in nine states. Most of the stores are operated under the Speedway and SuperAmerica brand names. SSA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corp., Houston.
