ALBANY, N.Y. -- Shop24 Global LLC signed with University Auxiliary Services at Albany for the placement of two Shop24 Stores on the campus of the University at Albany, also known as State University of New York at Albany or UAlbany.
Originally operated in Europe, Shop24 automated convenience stores dispense a variety of items such as snacks, cleaning supplies, health and beauty products and even full meals. This automated store is self-contained, refrigerated and designed to enable 24x7 purchasing capabilities. Standing over nine feet-tall, the machine offers up to 200 traditional c-store items ranging in weight from one ounce to eight pounds.
Shop24 accepts different methods of payment including cash, credit cards, debit cards, student meal cards and supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) cards 24 hours a day.
"This is the seventh SUNY campus and ninth store you will find in the State University of New York System," said Jason Santoro, vice president of sales for Shop24 Global LLC.
"UAlbany is undergoing major renovations within our retail foodservice environment, and we believe Shop24 will help provide the 24-hour retail needs students require," said Stephen Pearse, executive director of auxiliary services at UAlbany. "We look forward to enhancing the services we provide our customers on a daily basis and are extremely optimistic about the reception and results these new additions will achieve on our campus."
Said Santoro, "These Stores will enhance the existing food service program especially during those late night cravings."
Westerville, Ohio-based Shop24 Global said that it "does not discount the need for grocery and convenience stores, but knows that consumers want to have their purchases quickly in this fast-paced, time-starved world."
