VERC Receives 2008 Best of Plymouth Award

Also named to Boston Business Journal's Book of Lists

DUXBURY, Mass. -- VERC Enterprises has been selected for the 2008 Best of Plymouth Award in the Convenience Stores category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA), a Washington, D.C.-based organization established to promote local businesses across the United States.

The USLBA Best of Local Business Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image [image-nocss] of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2008 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.

"We're honored to be the recipient of this award," said Leo Vercollone, CEO of VERC Enterprises. "The USLBA was established to recognize the best of local businesses in their communities and as such it means a great deal to us to be selected."

In other company news, VERC Enterprises has also been named to The Boston Business Journal's Book of Lists as one of the region's largest family-owned businesses. Published in a recent edition of the newspaper, the lists provide a source to track the progress of local sectors and the key companies within them.

With 185 employees and revenues of $108.5 million, VERC Enterprises is listed as thesixth-largest family-owned business in the region.

"We're honored to garner recognition in this prestigious publication and take special pride in being a second generation business," said Vercollone.

Duxbury, Mass-based VERC Enterprises is a chain of approximately 20 c-stores and gas stations with locations throughout eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
