ELMENDORF, Texas -- VP Racing Fuels will be the official fuel for the 2014 season of TORC: The Off-Road Championship, the nation's premiere short-course, off-road racing series. VP's high-performance racing fuels will power all TORC competitors beginning with the April 5-6 "Duel in the Desert" race in Primm, Nevada.
As part of its sponsorship, VP will establish a contingency program to reward racers based on performance parameters. Also, VP will provide trackside fuel service at each event, which will include an online pre-order procedure to provide for convenient delivery of specific fuels to teams at the track.
"We believe in BJ Birtwell's vision for off-road racing and are excited to partner with him and his team as the Official Fuel of TORC," said Steve Scheidker, VP's director of marketing. "Over the years, VP has become the fuel of choice for many TORC competitors, so the partnership is a natural fit. It also provides a unique opportunity to build awareness for VP Racing Fuels and our growing roster of consumer products, as well as the VP-branded gas stations that are part of our retail branding initiative."
As the Official Fuel of TORC, VP will gain extensive brand visibility through media exposure including television, radio, print, digital and social media as well as display space, track signage and fan activation at TORC events.
In other company news, the recently formed Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) has named VP Racing Fuels as the official fuel supplier for the all-eighth-mile drag racing series. Also, VP Racing Fuels will sponsor a Low Qualifier award for extreme pro stock at each of eight scheduled PDRA events this year.
"We're very happy to be associated with the PDRA," Scheidker said. "We've been a longtime supporter and fuel supplier for eighth-mile outlaw doorslammer racing and this relationship with PDRA further demonstrates our commitment to this important segment of drag racing."
PDRA race teams will also find a VP Racing Fuels truck providing exclusive onsite sales at each PDRA event.
"VP offers the best fuels on the market for racing on the ragged edge while still providing the best protection for high-dollar, high-performance drag racing engines," said Jason Rueckert, VP's regional manager for the Midwest. "So we feel it's vitally important to actually be at the track and make these fuels available to PDRA teams. We also encourage racers to take advantage of our full-time professional tech support staff, who can advise them on fuel selection and tuning."
PDRA race director Bob Harris said VP Racing Fuels also will provide spec fuels this season for the Extreme Pro Stock class, though specific blends have not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, VP Racing Fuels recently provided onsite fuel service end to the teams participating in the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, the inaugural event for the new Tudor United SportsCar Championship. As the official fuel supplier for the Tudor Championship and its sanctioning body, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), VP fueled every car from the pace car and the winning Action Express Racing Corvette to the last car across the finish line.

"Just as the pit crews worked round the clock in the pits and paddock, our team kept fuel flowing to all the teams throughout the race," said Jim Kelly, VP's eastern regional manager for race fuel. Fuels VP provided include its unleaded Motorsport 100 and E85, both blended with cellulosic ethanol in support of IMSA's Green Racing platform.
The late January race marked the beginning of a new era as the first event for the Tudor Championship, a series formed with the merger of the two previous major sports car racing series in the United States--American Le Mans and Grand Am.
