WaterSavers ' Makes a Splash

Alliance opens doors for more participation

CHICAGO -- As part of a new collaboration between the International Carwash Association (ICA) and WaterSavers, the professional car-wash industry's award-winning environmental promotion program, members of four other car-wash associations can now participate in the program as part of the WaterSavers Alliance.

The participating associations are the Canadian Carwash Association, the Mid-Atlantic Carwash Assocation, the Southeastern Car Wash Association and the Western Carwash Association.

Nearly 900 locations across the United States and Canada are already [image-nocss] enrolled in WaterSavers. The Alliance represents an unprecedented level of cooperation amongst car-wash associations and a shared recognition of the importance of advancing the industry's commitment to water conservation and quality, according to ICA.

We are very excited to begin working with these outstanding partners and their members in growing the WaterSavers program, said International Carwash Association CEO Eric Wulf. Promoting our industry's responsible use of water--both in terms of usage and quality--is a shared priority for each of our organizations and one we are now aligned in supporting.

A new WaterSavers Board of Advisors will be established in order to support the Alliance's work. Car washes implementing water-management best practices are eligible to participate in WaterSavers for $49 per location annually. Participants are included in the program's online directory of locations and afforded exclusive access to WaterSavers marketing materials.

WaterSavers combines the value of a credible, recognized brand with local promotional efforts in order to educate consumers and water authorities. Additional information is available at icawatersavers.org.

The International Carwash Association, Chicago, is the trade group representing the retail and supply segments of the professional car wash and vehicle care industry across North America and around the globe, with nearly 1,700 member companies in more than 20 countries.

WaterSavers is a promotional program focused on the environmental benefits of professional car washing. Its target audiences are consumers and water regulators. The primary message of WaterSavers is that professional car washing has a positive impact on water quality and water efficiency. The desired outcomes of the program are to 1) encourage driveway and parking lot washing to move to professional car washes and 2) ensure that the industry's water usage characteristics are properly recognized by water regulators.
