WAWA, Pa. -- Wawa Inc. has announced that it will make a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. The donation has been designated specifically for the current crisis in Japan. These funds will be used to help the Red Cross provide immediate and vital support to the victims of the earthquake.
"Our hearts go out to those in Japan during this difficult time. Wawa has always had a strong commitment to providing crisis response and assisting those in need, and we've been partnering with the American Red Cross in these kinds of efforts for decades," [image-nocss] said Chris Gheysens, Wawa's CFO. "We have a long history of supporting the Red Cross that includes providing aid for Hurricanes Andrew, Katrina and Rita, the Midwestern Floods, the Asian Tsunamis and September 11th and the Haiti Earthquake disaster."
American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter board Chairman I Michael Coslov said, "Wawa stepped up big to help Haiti and is doing the same to help Japan. Wawa is a great corporate citizen and partner of the Red Cross. Wawa's donation will help alleviate a lot of suffering."
Wawa has been a committed partner to Red Cross relief efforts home and abroad for many years.
