Wawa in the Red

Retailer holding summer blood drives
MEDIA, Pa. -- From July 14 until August 31, convenience retailer Wawa Inc. is hosting more than 25 blood drive sites in four of its operating statesPennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia. Its goal for this year is to raise 2,000 pints of blood and to help The American Red Cross maintain a stable blood supply during the critical summer season.

Wawa associates have supported the American Red Cross blood drives for more than two decades. During the past five years, it has collected more than 10,000 pints of blood at chain-wide blood drives. Wawa's blood drives are [image-nocss] open to the public.

The blood drives are staffed by Wawa volunteers, who give of their time and they donate their blood for this important, lifesaving effort; a single blood donation can help as many as three people, the company said.

As an added incentive, all donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Wawa's 100% Juices.

The Wawa, Pa.-based retailer operates more than 560 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
