This year's severe winter weather has impacted the local blood supply, the Red Cross said.
Wawa Associates have supported the American Red Cross blood drives for more than two decades.
The chain's blood drives are open to the public. They are staffed by Wawa volunteers, [image-nocss] who give of their time, and they donate their blood for this important, life-saving effort; a single blood donation can help as many as three people. As an added incentive, successful donors will receive a coupon for a free 16-oz. Wawa iced tea.
The whole process of giving blood takes about an hour. The donation itself is only about 10 minutes. Most healthy people who are at least 17 years of age and weigh 110 pounds or more are eligible to donate blood every 56 days. Donors must bring the appropriate photo identification, such as a driver's license or American Red Cross donor card.
Headquartered in Wawa, Pa., Wawa Inc. operates more than 560 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
