Wawa Supports Red Cross With Annual Blood Drive

Spring schedule includes more than 20 locations open to public
WAWA, Pa. -- This spring, associates and customers can give blood at more than 20 Wawa Inc. sites throughout the company and join our efforts to help the American Red Cross save lives. From February 15 until March 31, Wawa will be hosting blood drive sites in four of its operating states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia.

Last year, associates and customers donated more than 2,961 pints of blood were in 2009.
Wawa associates have supported the American Red Cross blood drives for more than two decades. During the past five years, more than 10,000 pints [image-nocss] of blood have been collected at Wawa's chain-wide blood drives.

Wawa's blood drives are open to the public. They are staffed by Wawa volunteers, who give of their time, and they donate their blood for this important, lifesaving effort; a single blood donation can help as many as three people. As an added incentive, successful donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Wawa iced tea or fruit drink.

The whole process of giving blood takes about an hour. The donation itself is only about 10 minutes. Donors must bring the appropriate photo identification, such as a driver's license or American Red Cross donor card. Afterwards, the blood donation is brought back to the American Red Cross where it is tested and separated into components.

Wawa, a privately held company headquartered in Wawa, Pa., operates more than 560 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
