Welcome Back, Wawa Welcome America!

June event includes Philly flavors, musicians, fireworks
PHILADELPHIA-- Wawa Inc. has announced that the Taste of Philadelphia kicks off Wawa Welcome America!, Philadelphia's free 11-day July 4th Festival, with three-days of food and entertainment on the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing.

From Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26, visitors and residents are invited to taste mouth-watering, Philadelphia flavors while enjoying sounds of distinguished musicians and sights of historic Philadelphia. Entertainment and admission to Penn's Landing is free, and bite-sized "tastes" from dozens of notable Philadelphia restaurants are just a few [image-nocss] dollars--a fraction of regular entree-sized prices.

"We are excited to commence this year's Wawa Welcome America! with performances by big-name artists and delicious, local food from Philadelphia's leading restaurants," said Mayor Michael Nutter.

Jazz, R&B, soul and gospel acts will entertain attendees on the new River Stage at Penn's Landing throughout Taste of Philadelphia. Performers include Gerald Veasley and Aaron Neville. Wawa Welcome America! also includes three fireworks displays. Taste of Philadelphia concludes on June 26 with powerful performances by local gospel choirs, and the finalists of the Wawa Welcome America! singer/songwriter contest will compete to impress the judges.

Wawa Welcome America! is a multi-day festival that celebrates America's birthday in America's birthplace, Philadelphia, and is produced by Welcome America Inc.

Wawa, a privately held company, is based in Wawa, Pa., and operates more than 580 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
